This 29 unit townhouse development was situated on a steep embankment with forested ravines on each side of the development which presented unique grading and storm water control challenges. The design solution involved heavy storm event flows being diverted to a large trunk main sewer. Off-site design included multiple road alignment options.

14 Lot Subdivision in Cloverdale, Surrey

H.Y. Engineering has been involved with this project from feasibility to completion. The H.Y.E. Planning Department provided our Client with a feasibility study and preliminary cost analysis for the property. Planning services included liaison with the City and neighbouring property owners/developers to establish maximum development potential and cost savings opportunities beneficial to all parties.

Once the subdivision was approved, H.Y. Engineering provided subdivision layout and off-site design, project management services, construction services, Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) design and monitoring, and inspection services. The designs illustrated a storm water management plan, lot grading and infiltration gallery details, sanitary main extension and connections, watermain extension and connections, and significant roadworks design including the upgrades of the existing 64th Avenue arterial road, the extension and completion of the 64A Avenue collector road, and a lane to be constructed behind the development all with required sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and streetlighting.

250+ Single Family Lot Subdivision in Yorkson South, Langley

H.Y. Engineering was retained as prime consultant to survey, design, manage, tender, and inspect this extensive 293 single-family lot subdivision in the Yorkson neighbourhood of Langley, BC. The on-site design requirements include the full layout and design of multiple roadways, lanes, and cul-de-sacs with curbs, bulges, gutters, sidewalks, cross sections, street lighting, and temporary roads as required. The design of a storm water management system involved using storm water modeling, flow calculations, the design aquatic habitat features, coordination for the design of rain gardens, and the assessment and coordination of existing detention ponds for expansion as required. Water connections from 80th Avenue were designed with calculations to ensure adequate flows. Storm sewer and sanitary sewer plans illustrated the extension of the trunk mains from the intersection of 81A Avenue and 212th Street to the intersection of 80th Avenue and 212th street.

The project further involved significant coordination with the Township of Langley for input and approvals on designs as well as for the preparation of latecomer agreements. Erosion and Sediment Control design was prepared and monitored by H.Y. Engineering as well as construction inspection with reports to the Township of Langley.

 

Fire Hall No. 8 in Abbotsford

H.Y. Engineering worked with Chernoff Thompson Architects to develop the site servicing for the new Fire Hall No. 8 in Abbotsford. The off-site servicing involved the design of the new driveway, and upgrades to the curbs, gutters and sidewalks, as well as the design of aquatic features for storm water infiltration and retention. The on-site components included lot grading details, parking layout, and designs for water, storm, and sanitary service connections. H.Y. Engineering Ltd. also provided tender and contract administration services, as well as construction inspection for both off-site and on-site civil construction with reporting to the City of Abbotsford.
